Winter Light Trail | Waddesdon Manor

Waddeson Manor Winter Light

It’s become a Christmas tradition in our household that as the festive season approaches there’s nothing better to get you into the spirit than a trip to the Winter Light Trail at Waddesdon Manor. At the beginning of November is when it usually starts and the Christmas Markets are also there up until the 23rd December but the light trail carries on until 23rd January, 2022.

Weekend tickets get booked up really quickly but it stays open in the evenings until 7pm. There’s a good selection of stalls selling things from food to Christmas decorations. The food offerings vary from toasted cheese sandwiches, turkey burgers, hot dogs and burgers. They tend to be situated at the end of the rows. There’s also coffee, mulled wine, mulled cider and a variety of other drinks on offer.

The nice thing about limited entry is that it isn’t full of people so you get to see everything. This year the house isn’t open due to Covid but there’s still plenty to see and do. If you need shuttle bus tickets you must book these in advance and it’s advisable if you have little ones or ones with limited mobility as it’s a good twenty minute walk uphill to the manor.

The light trail is magical and there are a couple of interactive bits for kids. Don’t forget to go down to the stables via Miss Alice’s drive as it is full of lanterns made by local primary school children. Down at the stables you’ll find the cafe and an exhibition by Leo Villareal.
