After faffing about for 12 months about where to go on holiday, we decided to have a UK break this year. Bound by school holidays and a busy wedding season for my job we had a window of opportunity for 10 days at the end of July/beginning of August.
After having visited Talland Bay before and loving it, we wanted to go and stay there again. This time we opted for a hotel because for me a holiday means not having to make the beds and cook three times a day!
We found Talland Bay Hotel online and after looking at the gallery and reading reviews it looked perfect. The hotel is dog friendly (though we don’t have a dog but great to know!) The rooms in the main hotel are only for two people so we booked one of the cottage rooms with it’s own private garden.
The grounds of the hotel are absolutely stunning and the view of the sea is amazing. The sheltered garden has sun loungers and umbrellas reserved for residents and one day when we sat down here we could have been in the Mediterranean it was so hot! You’re also within a five minute walk of Talland Beach and in a central location to visit Looe and Polperro (also within walking distance along the coastal path).
The other major draw of the hotel was the restaurant. The hotel has two menu’s, one for the less formal conservatory and the other for the fine dining. We ate in the conservatory most nights because the food was so good. Drinks are served in the lounge where you can look at the menu and fresh canapés are brought to you. They were delicious and one of the highlights.
The fine dining restaurant which we ate in on the last night was also fantastic. Bear in mind we have a fussy nine year old who is very picky with what he eats, the hotel and staff were very accommodating. You must also try the Afternoon Tea which is one of the best if not THE best I’ve ever had.
