On Saturday we took a trip to go on a great pumpkin hunt and pick out some pumpkins for Halloween. I’ve always thought, how ridiculous who would buy a pumpkin this early for Halloween because surely by the 31st they’d be rotten.
But every day’s a school day so this year I’ve taken a leaf out of the book of our US counterparts. They buy pumpkins from the beginning of October and use them to make pretty displays on their porches before carving them nearer to Halloween so this is what we decided to do this year.
There’s a whole field of pumpkins to go at, all different colours so you can take as much time as you like picking out the perfect one(s). Each pumpkin is charged by size so the bigger they are the more they cost (simple huh!).
Grab your wheelbarrow and off you go but beware pumpkin fields are wet and muddy. Who knew?
Look at our lovely bounty!
The Millets Farm pumpkin patch is open from the 19th-31st October inclusive and the Halloween Spooktacular is on over half term week including the maize maze Halloween Howl and John Lawson’s circus.
